NHS Dental Services to return across Scotland from 1 Nov. Dentists learned about this from the Public Health Minister Joe FitzPatrick on TV ! The announcement came at a time when the country is being hit with a second wave of Covid-19. This announcement put us in a new phase 3C and while some dentists were able to resume earlier, including urgent care, full NHS treatments have not yet resumed. It is not “business as usual” as practices still need to limit the number of patients they see due to the ongoing spread of the virus. Dentists in Scotland will see NHS registered patients for routine dental care which does not involved the use of an Aerosol Generating Procedure (AGP), as well as giving priority to patients in need of urgent emergency dental care which involved an AGP. However, we still cannot do routine, non-urgent AGP such as fillings or scaling for NHS patients. Appointment is scheduled strictly over the phone only, 3-4 days in advance. Please refer to the SG websites, and webpages under Covid-19 about the changes to your dental care.
Dental implant is the best way to replace any missing teeth. A root formed titatium screw is placed in the jaw bone and used to support a crown or a bridge. The restoration is fixed in place, feel like your own natural teeth and cannot be removed by the patient.
